The Trade off Thesis, simply advocates that in certain countries, citizens trade-off civil liberties(i.e freedom of expression, right to free speech etc) for the mandatory provision of basic necessities such as food, healthcare and education.This is often done to achieve rapid economic growth for an increasing population.

The Goodness test is a current trend of pranking people to test their goodness level by acting poor and dressing tattered in the streets, begging for alms. There are rewards for people who show them kind/hospitable gestures, and everything is captured on the media. An Example is the current trend by a Nigerian Skit Actor “dGeneral” where he acted homeless and hungry. He was eventually helped by a woman who gave him something to eat and he rewarded her with 50,000 Naira for her kind gestures.
